Convergence are going to look sweet.
@ Cons: I suppose I could. Granted, many of the fellas at the store are all professionals (Teachers, Real Estate, IT, etc..), and most have families (in fact one of the main pillars of the group had a daughter within a week of mine)...the whole group really breaks the whole "gamer" stereotype. While appreciated, I am a newbie in the gang, and haven't really laid down "roots", as it were. I received second for "most fun to play" last journeyman, but I've been way inconsistent in attendance since then..
Thanks for the compliments on the metallics...just having some fun.
@ Faz: Don't sell yourself short, mate! You're doing great!
I'm pretty blessed with my wee-one, she mostly sleeps through the night...but damn, is she aware! Combine that with the backlash of Mama's decision to only breastfeed, which then turns into her runaway hours long store trips to get away, and I have no means to feed the wee beast. However, I have a healthy, smiling, lovely little girl...though she does eat into any hobby time...
@ Gagoc: I tried doing some masking...I've got a whole roll of Tamiya tape (actually several different widths)...it just didn't work out that one time. I think I may need to dial down my airbrush tip, from what I see LM doing. And I'm damn interested in the "Rub n' Buff"...however, I'm a bit trepidatious in messing about with oil based paints (I used to play with them a long time ago).
And yeah...I got hip to Marcie's name after the fact. I'm sure that played a part in our teenager's suggestion of the name, but we liked it, and it's pretty much set in stone at this point...
@ Luther, and Nomad: Thanks, fellas!
Well...for an update...I got Syntherion done!
Lots of fun with various glazes, and washes...and a wee bit of underlit OSL from the gears. Crappy pics, though...
And my mates, and I closed out the year with a 8K battle! I had 4K, they were 2K each...say what you want about "Escalation", but I'm convinced, if you can handle a LR, you're ready for a Stompa. I lost by four points...and yeah, there were some tailored Tau. Behold 4K points of barely painted Ork shame!
If all goes well, I hope to score some WM at the LFGS tomorrow. I'm still working on the TFG, and I laid down some basing on a Vector (the Cyriss version of a 'Jack)...more to come soon...or at least some time...

:o Look at you, getting a game in :P
Syntherion looks stupendous. For masking I have heard (and been recommended) silly putty as a suitable tool. Something to think about.
A bloggy thing that updates every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
AGREE WITH PIG
agreed. there are parts of the mini you could be easily excused for thinking were actually brass
Fantastic work on Syntherion Orkgasm! Have some Rep (I accidentally gave it to LutherMax first, because his post contained the same picture )
Many thanks, mate!...I really do not know how to take such an accolade...short of, turn off your computer, take a look at your own minis, and take it back!
Otherwise, I'm glad you like him! I'm really just experimenting with metallics, and stuff...the base is Vallejo "Gunmetal Grey", with GW "Bolt Gun", and "Mithril", and various washes, and tints to expand on it, GW "Sepia","Agrax", and "Asuremen Blue" washes, and Secret Weapon "Blue Black" wash. On the golds it started with a GW "Tin Bits" base, Vallejo "Bronze", GW "Shining Gold", and a bit of Vallejo "Transparent Green" for a bit of tinting, and verdigris..
I got another done...a Heavy Vector (the CoC version of a Warjack) the Cipher! And before you ask, yes, it has a gun for a head...and yes, I'm aware there's mould lines...it's been heavily documented that it's an issue with this kit (most go over shallow detail), and I tried to get rid of them...I got so frustrated, I gave up..
The pics are a bit pants, and you can barely see the subtle OSL on the front legs from the cogs, and the back leg from the cabling...but then, I wasn't trying to go OTT with it. Otherwise, I utilized many of the same techniques as I did on Syntherion, on a bit broader scale...
In the mean time work continues on me wee Ork....we're werkin' on teef!
An' watchin'!
