    Default Skrall sayz; Liquid Gs review

    Skrall Sayz - a new idea i've had for my opinions and reviews of new products done by gw or anything i use during the course of my hobby. this is the first one of the series, 'cos i tried out something today that impressed me.

    So what doez i say den?

    Simple; Liquid greenstuff.

    Liquid greenstuff is, for its price, complete and total.... Value. Others may disagree or link products they think are of equal quality or great, or cheaper, but the fact is, its useful stuff. I've recently used it in the construction of my mega dreads, and i was impressed with the versitility and ease with which it can be applied. You can wipe off excess with ease, as near as dry brush it into those pesty gaps and marks infact you can do just about anything with it when it comes to conversions and repairs.

    There was alot of chatter when this was released a short while back about how offencive it was gw were releasing a product to repair their dodgy castings, and so on and so forth yak yak yak failcast yak yak yak. I'll be reviewing the fine cast range in the near future and giving my opinions on that next, but for now lets circumvent this little avenue of... well lets take this advice;

    Now i throw this open to other people; i want to know your thoughts, your opinions and advice so that if others reading this can get a true sence of a product they can decide if they are going to pass opinion on it.

    I have not really given it much thought, but I am willing to try it. As for finecast It really makes me mad that people are being so judgmental of it and labeling it failcast. I have bought a number of forgeworld models and they are far from perfect, but I hear none of the negative ramblings like I do with finecast, I mean all of the problems with finecast models forgeworld stuff shares in common, so why single out finecast?

    I think a lot of the "failcast" remarks come out of ignorance and poor advertising from GW. The folks over at Forgeworld put a big disclaimer out there about the models being resin, and that they won't fit together perfectly. I think GW wanted to give the impression that their finecast line was supposed to be the ultimate modeling experience when it came to detail and ease of assembly.

    I have a couple of finecast models in my Dark Eldar army, and I have absolutely nothing negative to say about them.

    same, i've bought a few for my orks all of which have been near perfect (zagstrukk has some unusual flash mold in one hard to see area... no big loss when i filed that off). the big mek i used rescently in my meka-dread was so lovely to use it wasn't real, it just made the whole process so easy.

    Well, about that... I had to take a DE Archon (finecast, around June) back to GW because it was split, halves didn't match and it couldn't be fixed because it was a noticeable difference.

    About the liquid GS... I have been using it to fill gaps on my old Dark Elf hydra and it works perfectly, also on metal models' joints as they don't always match perfectly

    I've been trying out the liquid GS and really, really like this. Fine filler before this (e.g. Tamiya) was OK, but I can put this GS on a pallette, blend with water from one side and I have a pool of variable grades of thickness to play with as I work. Gets a bit messy (least it does with me) but cleans up a treat. Wow, two promotions in one night!

    I just plonked some on my metal Badrukk, where his sword hand meets his arm. Nice consistency, easy to apply and wash off the brush.
    How long does it take to harden? 24 hours?
